The moral of the story? Never rent a boat.
HaHa, the Village of Third Lake does not want you renting any boats either. Because they do not know how to tax you:
Note to Ops: If you do rent a boat on Third Lake make sure it is equipped with a radar detector. Just sayin!

“Difficult to patrol” the lake, admit the village officials. Yes, difficult to enforce their unlawful lake reg’s. For they do not hold water in court.
What next from the crooked officials? Enact an anti-short term rental ordinance in unincorporated areas, too? Sure, why not? It’s not as if law enforcement in Lake County has any interest in upholding the law against village crooks.
Hmmmm. Local politicians enacting new ordinances in the name of desperately needed control of the lake. The big bad AirBnBs are coming and we need to ban them, in the name of protecting the lake! That wolf cry sounds very familiar, one spearheaded by the liar in chief in the Lake County Health Department. How about writing up an article where town and county politicians including the now head of the Health Department verifiably conspired to do this same kind of bullshit years ago, prompting the state legislature to intervene and clarify that what the fraudsters were doing on partially unincorporated private lakes in Lake County was against the law?
