Strange Bedfellows

A hawkeyed operative auditing the McHenryCountyBlog sent us this snapshot of Mark Beaubien, proudly sporting stickers for Bill Brady and Jason Plummer:

Republicans Hold Play Day Fundraiser
Brady and Plummer, of course, are noted opponents of choice for women under any circumstances. For those who do not know, Beaubien is the State Rep from the 52nd District, and has been one of the strongest pro-choice legislators. Beaubien is one of Personal PAC's "2008 Pro-Choice Election Winners":

Pro-Choice Election Winners
One candidate not there and not likely to be on Personal PAC's 2010 list either, is gubernatorial candidate, Bill Brady:

Stop Bill Brady
It doesn't look like Mark Beaubien is terribly interested in stopping Bill Brady. Has Beaubien been drinking too much TEA?

Using this strained logic, every Democrat supporting Pat Quinn also favors his whopping tax increase proposals and supported his botched prisoner early release program.

Is that the point you are really trying to make?

Redtail, you read too much into this stuff. There's a simpler explanation. /snark/

I believe the only one practicing doublethink (i.e., two-faced hypocracy) here is Rep. Beaubien. He is one of the strongest pro-choice legislators on either side of the aisle and yet he apparently believes that electing a governor who would outlaw abortion even in the case of rape and incest is just fine and dandy. I wonder what his Personal PAC friends will make of that kind of doublethink.

So using redtail's "doublethink" logic, all Democratic elected officials who are supporting Patrick Quinn's quest to be elected Governor of Illinois are supporting his whopping tax increases and botched prisoner early release program.

Unlike BB, Redtail doesn't have much a sense of humor, it seems.

Actually this picture has alarmed many in the 52nd. Mark has always crossed the aisle and embraced both Republicans and Democrats. It is one of the main reasons he rarely gets an opponent or a viable opponent in any election. He votes his district and is well respected by both sides. However, his backing of Brady is likely to cause conservative dems to move away from his camp, and may even be an albatross he can't shake loose.
